Message in a bottle

So my obsession at the moment is altering vintage bottles. I came up with this inspiration because in my mothers house there is a window in her dinning room filled with colored glass bottles so when the sun shines through it it looks like stained glass casting an array of color throughout the room. So I went to this amazing junk craft show called the Junk Hippie Show (by the way this is a traveling show so look for it around your parts) and I was with my friend Jan Stevens and she took us into Rosenburg Texas where a few of her favorite shops were....and low and behold there I found some amazing bottles and was so inspired by them and this my lovelies is what I came up with......

Peacock Bottle
I used Gecko Galz pretty as a peacock collage sheet for the image, silk biased ribbon, gold UTEE from BJ Stamps on line, some pretty trim I got at a junk sale, 2 amazing peacock feathers from my stash and an old medicine bottle. When I did the design with the UTEE I used Glossy accents as my adhesive for the UTEE to stick to then heated it creates a great old world look.

Dream Bottle

With this I used an image from the Sleeping beauty collection by Gecko Galz and again I did the outer edge of the image with UTEE and glossy accents. I also found a great broach at the Junk Hippie Show that I used on the bottle as a decoration, some amazing pale pink lace and a vintage velvet flower on the stopper. Using my computer I printed out the words Just Dream tore the edges and inked with vintage photo ink.

Ophilia Bottle

For this one I found a great bottle at Hobby Lobby in the sale area and I absolutely love the shape. I started with a vintage photo of Ophelia from the Gecko Galz Shakespeare collection then used metallic gold paint and water to create a wash I sponged onto the glass. Then I dripped thicker paint down the bottles neck and added touches of lace and trim from my collection. I finished it off with a brown piece of tulle ribbon in a bow.

Spring Dreams Bottle

Yet another fun little bottle I found at Hobby Lobby in the sale section, I fell in love with the bird stopper. I added a sweet little image from the "Peter Cotton Tail" collection from Gecko Galz along with some bridal lace I scavenged from an old dress found at a thrift store......yes I did pop some tags as the song says! Next I added some Dresden foil corners, sweet pink trim from my collection and Prima mini roses to complete the look!

So now it is your turn to go out and find bottles to alter and when you do place a link in the comment section so we can all see it! Now I will be honest I have one more special bottle to share with everyone plus the collage image I used to make it but you will have to come back and join in the Gecko Galz Blog hop in October to see it!

LET'S GET READY FOR SCHOOL

So school is just around the corner and here are some fun ways to spruce up those tired little composition books or spiral notebooks so yours will look like one of a kinds and reflect your personality. So what I did was find some amazing 12 x12 scrapbook paper sheets in my collection  and cut then to fit the front and back of my notebook and adhered them with Scotch fast drying adhesive. Then I went through my Gecko Galz products and found some images that say "Me" and sized them to the desired size and decorated my covers. To hide the paper seam in the binding I found pretty trims/ribbon and also added three deminsional items on some of them like old jewelery or findings found at junk stores. Also inside the covers using heavy cardstock I put pockets to hold  a pen or papers I may get from the teacher.
It is a fun way to get ready for the school year!

FREE IMAGES FOR AUGUST!

Good Morning to everyone!

So this month I am doing away with the challenges...I know awwwww, but I had no one send any entries to my last one so I think I will forgo coming up with challenges for now.
But I will still be sharing some fun images for you to play with and use in your crafting and as always you are always welcome to send links to your designs.
So this month I thought it would be fun to share some fun little tags for you to use in your crafting projects. If you are like me I adore using tags in projects they are the perfect place to put your journaling or even a place to house a photo.
I hope you have fun with them!
